Programme Overview

The Bachelor of Science in Nursing (B.Sc. Nursing) program prepares students to deliver safe, effective, and compassionate nursing care in hospitals and community settings. It integrates foundational sciences, nursing theory, and clinical experience to build competence and confidence.

Eligibility Criteria

  • 10+2 (Science stream) with 45% marks (PCB) from a recognized board
  • Candidates from State Open School or NIOS with Science and English are eligible
  • Candidate must have completed 17 years of age on or before 31st December of the admission year
  • 5% relaxation in marks for SC/ST candidates
  • Reservations as per State Government Policy

Programme Objectives

  1. Apply knowledge from physical, biological, and behavioural sciences in holistic care
  2. Demonstrate nursing skills and techniques using evidence-based practice
  3. Deliver comprehensive care to individuals, families, and communities
  4. Apply critical thinking and decision-making in complex healthcare situations
  5. Take up leadership roles as first-line managers in healthcare and education
  6. Participate in promotive, preventive, and restorative healthcare
  7. Conduct nursing research and apply findings in practice
  8. Exhibit moral and ethical values in professional conduct

Second Year Sociology, Medical–Surgical Nursing–I, Pharmacology, Pathology, Genetics, Community Health Nursing–I, Communication & Educational Technology
Third Year Medical–Surgical Nursing–II, Child Health Nursing, Mental Health Nursing, Nursing Research & Statistics
Final Year Midwifery & Obstetrical Nursing, Community Health Nursing–II, Management of Nursing Services & Education

Examination System

Examinations are conducted in September/October, with supplementary exams in November/December as per MPMSU schedule.

Students must maintain 80% attendance in theory and 100% in practicals. Internal assessments follow university norms.

Award of Degree

Successful candidates are awarded the Bachelor of Science (Nursing) degree and are eligible for registration with any State Nursing Council in India.
